Contrast was Maynard's first released album. In the UK it was available July 30th 2012. The album feautered mentor Ne-Yo, close friend and british singer Rita Ora, Pharrell and Wiley. Contrast was released in digital format and in CD, including four singles (Can't Say No, Vegas Girl, Turn Around ft. Ne-Yo and Animal ft. Wiley) and one promotional single, Drowning.
Contrast was released by EMI's subsidiary, Parlophone and peaked at number one in UK Album Chart on August 11th 2012.
In the UK, Scotland and Ireland, the album peaked at nos. 1, 3 and 10, respectively.
All singles were, at some point, in the UK Singles Chart top ten, being the best chart position, no. 2, with Can't Say No, and the lowest on this chart, Turn Around (ft. Ne-Yo) in no. 8.
Even though it wasn't released as a single, Better than You, featuring british act, Rita Ora was also charted in the UK Singles Chart, in no. 105.
The album had four singles, and a promotional single.
First single, "Can't Say No" was released in the UK as Maynard's debut single in April 15th 2012. Its best position in charts in the UK was no. 2. Maynard contributed to the lyrics of the song.
The digital EP or the signed CD single (which was limited to 500 copies) had 6 tracks: the original version of the song, the Lazy J radio edit, two remixes, the acoustic version and Maynard's cover of Drake's song, "Crew Love".
Second single, "Vegas Girl" was released in the UK July 21st of the same year and debuted and peaked in the UK charts as number 4. Maynard contributed to the lyrics of the song.
The digital download version came with 4 tracks. The original version, the Wideboys remix, the Tortuga remix and popular cover by Conor, "Marvin's Room" by Drake.
"Turn Around" was the single that featured Ne-Yo, and it peaked as no. 8 in the UK.
The digital download version came with 6 tracks: the original song, four remixes and edits and Maynard's BBC Live Version of "Starships" by Nicki Minaj.
"Animal" (ft. Wiley) was released in 2013 as Contrast's last single and it peaked at no.6. Maynard contributed to the lyrics of the song.
The digital download version came with 5 tracks. The original version of the song, featuring Wiley, the remix by the Wideboys, the song without Wiley's vocals, a live version of Maynard's cover of "Diamonds" (originally sung by Rihanna) and a Maynard's acoustic version of "Don't you Worry Child" (originally by Swedish House Mafia ft. John Martin).
"Drowning" was released as a promotional single, as it was free on digital download to all that pre-ordered the full album Contrast.
